In the earlier stages, patient may complain of hands and feet, turning blue in cold weather.
Early detection and treatment is paramount. There are multiple new treatment options are emerged, which happens to be a lifesaver for this group of patients in the world scleroderma day, I would definitely encourage patients with these symptoms to come forward and get their blood test and CT scan performed for an early detection and treatment, said Dr. Inderjeet Aggarwal, HOD Rheumatology, Paras Hospitals, Gurugram.
Dr Anil Venkatachalam, Consultant Neurologist Somaiya Super Speciality Hospital said, “The exact cause of Multiple Sclerosis is not known. A lot of research is being done in order to acsertain the cause. The most likely cause seems to be autoimmune as a result of which various parts of the nervous system are damaged. Apart from autoimmune cause other postulated causes are exposure to certain bacteria and viruses, role of genetics and environmental factors. It is important to recognise the signs and symptoms of multiple sclerosis as effective treatment options are available.”
