K. J. Somaiya Hospital, has unveiled its newly refurbished Ayurveda Centre, which now has an increased capacity for Ayurveda dispensary and Ayurveda Garden on the grounds of the hospital. To provide patients a calming ambience, nature and tradition have been kept in perfect balance in the new design of the Centre; with classic traditional wooden facilities, walls painted with Indian murals, wide large windows providing natural light and a view of greenery, evoking a feeling of well-being.
The fully equipped Somaiya Ayurveda Centre, which serves both in-patients and visiting patients, provides general consultation as well as specialty services for various chronic diseases, including diabetes, blood pressure, asthma, skin ailments, migraine, knee/back pain, obesity, and hair fall. Ayurveda therapies offered includes shirodhara, panchakarma, njavarakizhi, netratharpanam, shirovasthi, udvarthanam and abhyangam. Apart from Naturopathic treatments like hydro, mud, diet and massage therapies. Somaiya Ayurveda Centre was recently inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Shripad Naik.
Vanaspatyam, the Ayurveda garden on the campus, spread over a sprawling 3.5 acres with 10,000 medicinal plants (over 100 species) emits an aura of organic healing. Freshly plucked leaves from the herbal plants go straight from the garden to the centre, and are used in various therapies.

Ayurveda can play a key role in the Indian healthcare eco-system, with increase in life expectancy and lifestyle related problems have brought with them an increased risk of developing diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and mental which are often chronic and fatal in nature. Our Centre is amongst the few Ayurveda centres, which has access to an Ayurveda Garden, giving it access to fresh herbs and plants” .
